Winter

Every afternoon the children play in the Giant’s garden.
هر بعد از ظهر بچه ها در باغ غول بازی می کنند.
مالکیت
It is a big, lovely garden with green grass. Beautiful flowers grow there.
این یک باغ بزرگ زیبا است با علف های سبز. آن جا گل های قشنگ رشد می کنند.
There are twelve peach trees with delicate pink blossoms.
دوازده درخت هلو با شکوفه های صورتی ظریف هست.

The birds sit on the trees and sing sweet songs.
پرنده ها روی درخت ها می نشینند و آوازهای دلنشین می خوانند.
The children listen to the birds.

The Giant is away. He is visiting his friend the ogre.
غول آن جا نیست. او مشغول سر زدن به دوستش اوگِر است.
After seven years the Giant returns home.
بعد از هفت سال غول به خانه برمی گردد.
When he arrives he sees the children in his garden. They are playing.
وقتی او می رسد بچه ها را داخل باغش می بیند. آن ها دارند بازی می کنند.

‘What are you doing here?’ he says in a loud voice.
او با صدای بلندی می گوید «شما اینجا چه کار دارید می کنید؟»
The children are very scared and run away.
بچه ها خیلی می ترسند و فرار می کنند.
‘This is my garden! My garden!’ says the Giant. ‘Only I can play here.’
غول می گوید «این باغ من است! باغ من! فقط من می توانم اینجا بازی کنم.»

So the Giant builds a high wall around the garden.
بنابراین غول دیوار بلندی دور باغ می سازد.
Then he puts up a sign: NO ONE MUST ENTER!
بعد او تابلویی نصب می کند: هیچ کس نباید وارد شود!
He is a very selfish Giant.
او غول خیلی خودخواهی است.
Now the poor children have no place to play. They can’t play on the road.
حالا بچه های بی نوا جایی برای بازی ندارند. آن ها نمی توانند داخل جاده بازی کنند.
There are big stones on the road and the children don’t like them.
سنگ های بزرگی داخل جاده هست و بچه ها از آن ها خوششان نمی آید.
After school, the children walk near the high wall. They talk about the beautiful garden inside.
بعد از مدرسه، بچه ها نزدیک دیوار بلند راه می روند. آن ها در مورد باغ قشنگ داخل آن حرف می زنند.
It is spring and there are little blossoms and little birds everywhere.
بهار است و همه جا شکوفه های کوچولو و پرنده های کوچولو هست.
But in the garden of the Selfish Giant it is still winter.
ولی داخل باغ غولِ خودخواه هنوز زمستان است.
The birds do not sing there because there are no children. There are no blossoms on the trees.
پرنده ها آنجا آواز نمی خوانند چون بچه ای آنجا نیست. روی درخت ها شکوفه ای نیست.
A beautiful flower puts its head out of the grass. It looks for the children.
یک گل قشنگ سرش را از لای علف ها بیرون می آورد. گل دنبال بچه ها می گردد.
It sees the sign and goes back into the ground. It goes to sleep.
گل تابلو را می بیند و برمی گردد داخل زمین. گل به خواب می رود.
Only the Snow and the Frost are happy.
فقط برف و شبنم یخ زده خوشحال هستند.
‘Spring doesn’t come to this garden,’ they say. ‘We can live here all year!’
آن ها می گویند «بهار به این باغ نمی آید. ما می توانیم تمام سال را اینجا زندگی کنیم!»
The Snow covers the grass with her big white cloak. The Frost paints the trees silver.
برف با شنلِ بزرگ سفیدش علف ها را می پوشاند. شبنم یخ زده درختان را رنگِ نقره ای می کند.
The Snow and the Frost invite the North Wind to stay with them.
برف و شبنم یخ زده باد شمالی را دعوت می کنند تا پیش آن ها بماند.
The North Wind comes and blows all day in the garden. He has a big warm coat and a hat.
باد شمالی می آید و تمام روز در باغ می وزد. او یک پالتوی بزرگ گرم و یک کلاه دارد.
‘This is a wonderful place,’ says the North Wind. ‘We must invite the Hail.’
باد شمالی می گوید «اینجا جای فوق العاده ای است. باید تگرگ را دعوت کنیم.»
So the Hail comes. He is dressed in grey.
بنابراین تگرگ می آید. او خاکستری پوشیده است.
For three days he runs around the garden.
برای سه روز او دور باغ می دود.
Then he dances on the roof. There is a lot of hail.
بعد روی پشت بام می رقصد. تگرگ زیاد است.
‘Why doesn’t the Spring come?’ asks the Selfish Giant.
غول خودخواه می پرسد «چرا بهار نمی آید؟»
He sits at the window and looks at his cold, white garden.
او دم پنجره می نشیند و به باغ سفید سردش نگاه می کند.
The Spring never comes and the Summer never comes.
بهار هیچ وقت نمی آید و تابستان هیچ وقت نمی آید.
The Autumn gives fruit to all gardens. But it doesn’t give any fruit to the Selfish Giant’s garden.
پاییز به تمام باغ ها میوه می دهد. ولی به باغ غول خودخواه هیچ میوه ای نمی دهد.
‘He is too selfish,’ the Autumn says.
پاییز می گوید «او زیادی خودخواه است.»
So, it is always winter there. The North Wind, the Hail, the Frost and the Snow live in the Selfish Giant’s garden.
بنابراین، آنجا همیشه زمستان است. باد شمالی، تگرگ، شبنم یخ زده و برف در باغ غول خودخواه زندگی می کنند.
Part Two
بخش دو
Spring

One morning the Giant hears some lovely music. ‘It must be the King’s musicians!’ says the Giant.
یک روز صبح غول موسیقی دلنشینی را می شنود. غول می گوید «این ها باید نوازنده های شاه باشند.»
A little bird is singing a lovely song. The Hail stops dancing on the roof.
یک پرنده کوچولو دارد آواز دلنشینی می خواند. تگرگ رقصیدن روی پشت بام را متوقف می کند.
The North Wind stops blowing. There is a sweet perfume in the air.
باد شمالی از وزیدن دست می کشد. عطری دلنشین در هواست.
‘I think Spring is here at last,’ says the Giant.
غول می گوید «فکر می کنم بالاخره بهار به اینجا (رسیده) باشد.»

He goes to the window and looks outside. What does he see?

He sees something wonderful! There is a little hole in the wall.

Now the children can enter the garden. There is a little child on every tree.
حالا بچه ها می توانند وارد باغ شوند. روی هر درخت کودک کوچکی هست.
The trees have beautiful blossoms. They are very happy to have the children.
درخت ها شکوفه های زیبایی دارند. آن ها از داشتن بچه ها خیلی خوشحالند.
The birds are flying in the sky and singing. The flowers are laughing. There is happiness in the garden.
پرنده ها دارند در آسمان پرواز می کنند و آواز می خوانند. گل ها دارند می خندند. شادی داخل باغ است.
But it is still winter in one corner of the garden. In that corner there is a little boy.
ولی در یک گوشه باغ هنوز زمستان است. در آن گوشه پسرک کوچولویی هست.
He is very small and he can’t climb the tree. He is walking around the tree and crying
او خیلی کوچک است و نمی تواند از درخت بالا برود. او دارد دور درخت راه می رود و گریه می کند.
The tree is covered with snow. The North Wind is blowing.
درخت پوشیده از برف است. بادی شمالی دارد می وزد.
‘Climb up, little boy!’ says the Tree. But the boy is too small.
درخت می گوید «پسر کوچولو، بیا بالا.» ولی پسر زیادی کوچک است.
When he sees the little boy the Giant’s heart melts.
وقتی غول پسر کوچولو را می بیند قلبش آب می شود.
‘I am very selfish!’ he says. “Now I know why the Spring does not come here. I must put that little boy on the tree. Then I must knock down the wall. My garden must be the children’s playground forever.’
او می گوید «من خیلی خودخواهم. حالا می دانم چرا بهار به اینجا نیامد. باید آن پسر کوچولو را روی درخت بگذارم. بعد باید دیوار را بکوبم و پایین بیاورم. باغ من باید برای همیشه زمین بازیِ بچه ها باشد.»
The Giant opens his door and goes out into the garden.
غول درِ (خانه اش) را باز می کند و بیرون به داخل باغ می رود.
When the children see the Giant they are afraid. They run away. The Winter returns to the garden.
وقتی بچه ها غول را می بینند می ترسند. آن ها فرار می کنند. زمستان به باغ باز می گردد.
The little boy does not run away. He is crying.
پسر کوچولو فرار نمی کند. او دارد گریه می کند.
The Giant takes him in his big hand and puts him on a branch of the tree.
غول او را در دستان بزرگش می گیرد و او را روی یک شاخه ی درخت می گذارد.
Suddenly, there are blossoms on the tree. The birds come and sing.
یک دفعه، روی درخت شکوفه هایی ظاهر می شود. پرنده ها می آیند و آواز می خوانند.
The little boy is very happy. He kisses the Giant.
پسر کوچولو خیلی خوشحال است. او غول را می بوسد.
When the children see this, they come back to the garden. The Spring comes back too.
وقتی بچه ها این را می بینند، به باغ برمی گردند. بهار هم برمی گردد.
‘It is your garden now, little children,’ says the Giant.
غول می گوید «بچه های کوچولو، الان این باغ شماست.»
He takes a big axe and knocks down the wall.
او تبر بزرگی برمی دارد و دیوار را پایین می آورد.
Part Three
بخش سه
White Blossoms
شکوفه های سفید
At twelve o’clock people go to the market.
ساعت دوازده مردم به بازار می روند.
They see the Giant playing with the children in the beautiful garden.
آن ها غول را می بینند که در باغ قشنگ با بچه ها بازی می کند.
The children play all day. In the evening they say goodbye to the Giant.
بچه ها تمام روز را بازی می کنند. شب آن ها از غول خداحافظی می کنند.
‘Where is the little boy?’ asks the Giant.
غول می پرسد «آن پسر کوچولو کجاست؟»
Wh – Questions
‘We don’t know,’ answer the children.
بچه ها جواب می دهند «نمی دانیم.»
‘You must tell him to come tomorrow,’ says the Giant.
غول می گوید «باید به او بگویید فردا بیاید.»
‘We don’t know where he lives,’ say the children.
بچه ها می گویند «ما نمی دانیم او کجا زندگی می کند.»
نقل قول
The Giant is very sad and says, ‘He is my little friend and I want to see him.’
غول خیلی غمگین می شود و می گوید «او دوست کوچولوی من است و من می خواهم او را ببینم.»
Every afternoon, after school, the children play with the Giant.
هر روز بعد از ظهر، بعد از مدرسه، بچه ها با غول بازی می کنند.
The Giant is very kind to the children. But he wants to see his first little friend.
غول خیلی با بچه ها مهربان است. ولی او می خواهد دوست کوچولوی اولش را ببیند.
‘Where is he?’ he says to himself.
او به خودش می گوید «او کجاست؟»
ضمایر انعکاسی
Many years pass and the Giant grows old. He can’t play with the children.
سال های زیادی می گذرد و غول پیر می شود. او نمی تواند با بچه ها بازی کند.
So he sits in an enormous armchair and watches the children play.
بنابراین در صندلیِ راحتیِ غول پیکری می نشیند و بچه ها را که بازی می کنند تماشا می کند.
He looks at his garden and says, ‘I have many beautiful flowers, but the children are the most beautiful flowers of all.’
او به باغش نگاه می کند و می گوید «من گل های زیبای زیادی دارم، ولی بچه ها زیباترین گل ها از بین همه آن ها هستند.»
صفت عالی
One winter morning the Giant looks out of his window.
یک صبحِ زمستانی غول از پنجره اش بیرون را نگاه می کند.
He does not hate the Winter now.
حالا او از زمستان بدش نمی آید.
He knows that the Spring is sleeping and that the flowers are resting.
او می داند که بهار خوابیده و اینکه گل ها دارند استراحت می کنند.
Suddenly, he sees something marvelous. He looks and looks. He is very surprised.
ناگهان، او چیزی شگفت آور می بیند. او نگاه می کند و نگاه می کند. او خیلی حیرت زده است.
In a corner of the garden there is a tree with lovely white blossoms.
در یک گوشه باغ درختی با شکوفه های سفید قشنگ هست.
Its branches are golden and there is silver fruit on them.
شاخه های آن طلایی است و روی آن ها میوه های نقره ای هست.
Under this tree there is a little boy. It is the Giant’s little friend.
زیر این درخت یک پسر کوچولو هست. این دوست کوچولوی غول است.
The Giant runs to the garden. He is very happy.
غول به سمت باغ می دود. او خیلی خوشحال است.
He runs across the green grass and goes to the child.
او دوان دوان علف های سبز را رد می کند و پیش آن بچه می رود.
Across
When he is near the child he becomes angry.
وقتی او نزدیک کودک است عصبانی می شود.
He says, ‘What are these wounds?’
او می گوید «این زخم ها چیست؟»
There are the marks of two nails on the child’s hands and feet.
روی دست ها و پاهای کودک اثر دو میخ هست.
‘What are these wounds?’ says the Giant.
غول می پرسد «این زخم ها چیست؟»
‘These are the wounds of Love,’ says the child.
کودک می گوید «این ها زخم های عشق است.»
‘Who are you?’ asks the Giant. The Giant has a strange sensation.
غول می پرسد «تو کی هستی؟» غول حس عجیبی دارد.
He kneels in front of the little child.
او جلوی کودک کوچولو زانو می زند.
The child smiles at the Giant and says, ‘You let me play in your garden. Today you can come with me to my garden. It is Paradise.’
کودک به غول لبخند می زند و می گوید «تو اجازه دادی من در باغت بازی کنم. امروز می توانی با من به باغم بیایی. (باغ من) بهشت است.»
When the children come to the garden they find the Giant dead under a tree.
وقتی بچه ها به باغ می آیند غول را مُرده زیر یک درخت می یابند.
He is covered with white blossoms.
او پوشیده از شکوفه های سفید است.
